Sikkim is sheer magic. With its unique culture and natural landscape, Sikkim is a picture of perfection and pristine purity. Perhaps, there is no part of the world which offers a spectacular scene with every turn of the road as Sikkim. Though land-locked, it is one of the most beautiful and strategically important state of the Indian Union. Dominating both legend and landscape of Sikkim is the mighty Khangchedzonga. Known to the outside world as Kanchenjunga, it is the third highest peak in the world. Bout to the Sikkemese it is much more than a mountain: Khangchendzonga is the Guardian deity, a country God whose benign watchfulness ensures peace and prosperity for the land.

Description

Day 01: Arrive in Delhi.
You will be met by our representative on arrival and transferred to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight in Delhi.

Day 02: Fly to Bagdogra. Drive to Darjeeling (90 kms).
After breakfast drive to Airport to take a short flight to Bagdora. Upon arrival drive (4 hours drive) to the former British Hill Station of Darjeeling, arriving in the late afternoon with a lunch stop along the way. Check into hotel and evening sightseeing in Darjeeling.

Spectacularly set on a ridge surrounded by snow-capped mountains and dense conifer forests, Darjeeling still recalls the days of the Raj, and at the same time has become an enchanting melting pot of exotic hill and village peoples, full of bazaars selling colourful handicrafts. Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 03: In Darjeeling.
Early morning drive to famous Tiger Hill to catch the beautiful sunrise. (where you can see the tip of Mt. Everest in the distance). After that, city tour covering Darjeeling City and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The Institute was established on 4th November 1954, which was then the hub center of all mountaineering activity in India. The Institute is the landmark in Darjeeling and an important center of tourist attraction. It commands a magnificent view of Kanchenjunga massif. Late afternoon some time for shopping. Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 04: Darjeeling to Gangtok.
After breakfast drive to Gangtok. En route visit the famous Rumtek Monastery. The Monastery is affiliated with one of the important Tibetan Buddhist sects – the Kargyapa sect. When the leader of this sect escaped from Tibet in 1959 he was invited to settle in Sikkim. With an influx of funds the monastery was restored to its traditional Tibetan architectural lines in the 1960’s – the original monastery having being destroyed by an earthquake.

Lunch at Hotel Shambala Resort Rumtek, and then evening drive to Gangtok, capital city of Sikkim, and overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Gangtok to Lachung.
After breakfast, we leave for North Sikkim, a drive of about 5 hours including stoppage for lunch and high tea on the way. Arrive at Lachung and overnight in lodge.

Lachung at a height of 8610 ft, one of the most exquisite villages in the valleys of North Sikkim. With resplendent snow-capped mountains, dazzling waterfalls and sparkling streams, Lachung has been described as the “most picturesque village of Sikkim” by none other than Joseph Salton Hooker in his definitive, The Himalayan Journal (1855). Overnight in Lachung.

Day 06: Lachung. Excursion to Yumthang Valley.
After an early breakfast, we leave for Yumthang Valley (12,000 ft) tour (about 1-2 hours). Yumthang Valley is an awe-inspiring spectacle of alpine pastures, rhododendron forests and snow-cloaked peaks. On the way visit the Hot Spring and Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary.

Return to Lachung for lunch. Then visit the Lachung Monastery which is the center of all religious and cultural activity in the village. Built in 1880, the Monastery has two huge prayer wheels and original murals in bright colors on one of the walls. Overnight in Lachung.

Day 07: Lachung to Gangtok.
First part of the day explore the city on your own and after lunch leave for Gangtok. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 08: Gangtok. Excursion to Tsomgo Lake.
After breakfast drive to Tsomgo Lake (Changu Lake) 40 kms away from Gangtok. Known as “source of the lake” in Bhutia language, this serene lake is situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft on the Gangtok Nathu La highway and is considered sacred by the local people. Return back to Gangtok. Rest of the day free at leisure or explore the city on your own. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 09: Gangtok to Ravongla.
After breakfast drive to Ravongla via Temi Tea Garden, the famous tea garden of Sikkim. Evening check-in hotel and sightseeing. Overnight in Ravongla.

Day 10: Ravongla. Excursion to Tendong.
Drive to Damthang and trek 3 hrs to Tendong (2,725m). From this point one can enjoy the scenery of the entire range of the mountain peaks of Sikkim. To the east is the Chola peaks, to the west Kangchenjunga and the Singelila range, and to the northeast can be seen the peaks of the North Sikkim plateau including Gurudongmar. Overnight in Ravongla.

Day 11: Ravongla to Pemayangtse (Pelling).
Drive to Pemayangtse (Pelling), western Sikkim. Reach in the afternoon and check in to hotel. After lunch, visit Simsure Bridge, one of the highest in Asia. Back to hotel. Overnight in Pelling.

Day 12: Pemayangtse Sightseeing.
After breakfast, short trek to Sangacholling Monastery. Back for lunch and afternoon, visit Pemayangtse Monastery. Overnight in Pelling.

Day 13: Pemayangtse to Kalimpong.
Drive for about 4hrs to Kalimpong via Jorethang. Have lunch at Jorethang. Kalimpong was a robust town during the British India where lots of traders from Tibet, Bhutan and India used to meet. The climatic condition here are ideal for nature to flourish. There are few nurseries which grow varieties of orchids and other exotic Himalayan flowers for exports worldwide. Arrive in Kalimpong in the evening and check in hotel. Overnight in Kalimpong.

Day 14: Kalimpong to Delhi via Bagdogra. Depart Delhi.
After breakfast drive to Bagdora and connect flight to Delhi. Upon arrival meet and transfer to hotel for rest. Afternoon free for last minute shopping. In the evening transfer to the Airport for your flight back home.
